Yesterday I drug Jas out to run a 5K with me. This race was the Pumpkin Brew 5K held in StL's Tower Grove area...super cool area of StL. Well the organizers of this race encouraged people to wear costumes because in addition to the actual winner's of the race getting prizes, there were prizes for the best costumes!! When we arrived to pick up our race packets prior to the race, there weren't many people there and the one's that were there didn't have any costumes...BOOO!! So we decided that if no one wore costumes, we'd just run in out normal closthes. Well as time went on, more people started showing up and several had costumes on. We decided that, while there definitely wasn't a majority wearing costumes, we'd still wear ours. So what did we go as? You ask? Well last year we were the super heroes "Flash" and "Wonder Woman" so that's what we ran in! It was awesome! Of the few that were dressed up, there were a slew of naughty nurses, a bride, a doctor and of course...ELVIS! The weather was pretty cool to start but quickly got warm as we started running. We ran through Tower Grove Park where there were several recreational activities going on and two, count em' TWO weddings! As we trekked our way through, we kept hearing "Go Flash!!" "Flash you should be at the front of the line shouldn't you?" "Flash....AHahhhh!" I only got a couple Wonder Woman heckles. Jas.....I mean Flash, was definitely the highlight of our run. As we passed mile two we came upon a nice gazebo and I heard some nice classical music and I though wow that's nice, but then I look over and see a bride nearing the alter...and then someone from the other side shouts at the top of their lungs "YOU CAN DO IT FLASH!!!" just as the ceremony starts...I felt so intrusive......but I just had to laugh! Imagine that conversation among the guests!! Then as we were round the other side of the gazebo, the second wedding party noticed us and wanted us to stop and take a picture with them! It was funny! Just as we were getting to the end of the race, this woman leaned out of her window and said "I LOVE YOU WONDER WOMAN!!" I cracked up and gave a crazy WOO HOO and kept pushin. We finished in 30:29.

After the race was over, we went on the patio of the restaurant that held the pre/post race activities and had some drinks and snacks and talked to a bunch of the other racers. It was a nice time. After about 15 minutes they started with the awards. The fastest time was 16:47!! Can you believe that?!? Holy SHNIKEYS! I thought we were doing great and then POW! YOU SUCK! The fastest female runner was 22 minutes...I'm slow....but what-EVA! So the they get to the costume awards....Jas and I got 1st and 3rd place (respectively). It was such a blast! My next race is this Saturday, actually I have to do two because I missed last weekend. One is Saturday morning and I think Jas is gonna come with me and the other one is in the early evening...another costume race....and yep you guessed, Wonder Woman will be making an appearance! Both are 5k's in town's close to our house. I don't have any pics, but the race host's took some so when I get some, I will post them here....
