Seems like an eternity.....

.....since I last posted. That's because two weeks in blog world is an eternity! Time is seeming to slip right on by me which is not necessarily good. School has been keeping me so stinkin busy that I haven't had time to write which is a shame besause I love to blog...

Well besides that excitement of school, I have enjoyed some fun highlights over the past couple weeks. At work we had this crazy week of AMC Icon which is a bootleg version of USAFE Idol which is also a bootleg version of, you guessed it....American Idol. The preparation was more than enough headache lemme tell you! There were 11 contestants from various AMC (Air Mobility Command) bases. They all won or either took the place of the winner (if he winner was civilian) of their specific bases karoke contest. After winning their base, they came to us and competed against each other. The winners got cash and bragging rights. In the end it ended up not being so bad. I met some pretty nice people and got to work with another fabulous singer/musician, Brian Owens, check him out at http://www.thebnatural.com/. He is a local St. Louisian and was in the band for a short while...it was so nice working with you Brian!
Once that was over, I had a lovely 3 day weekend which would have been a 4 day but I changed my day off from Monday to Thursday of last week because......drum roll please.......I went to a taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show! WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! It was such a nice once in a lifetime deal. I invited my Mom to come along, and of course she was more than happy to tag along. I rode the train up on Wednesday night and she and I got up on Thursday to go to HARPO studios for the taping. Unfortunately neither of us brought a camera along since they weren't allowed inside, so here's hoping that I will see myself on TV on Jan. 5th when the show airs!

This past Friday, Jas and I went to a Halloween party that some co-workers of mine hosted. Jas was an evil Jester and I was the evil Jester's bride....I couldn't think of anything clever ot go with his costume, so I just found something that made me look cute! Tee hee! We had a great time! Thanks Robert and Mary-Nan!
On Saturday, we headed out to Louisville for Jason's nieces 5th birthday party. Holy smokes! 500 littles ones running around Chuck E. Cheese is crazy! It was fun though. We headed back yesterday and of course I did homework yesterday...yippee skippee! Today was filled with rehearsals, lunchtime spin class and afternoon admin work. I figured I'd better get back into the swing of things when blogging is concerned. I like to blog...it clears my head and allows me to be somewhat creative....

Well tomorrow I'm heading out to vote, but tonight I plan to watch the last ditch effort by the candidates to sway voters their way....even though I already have my mind made up. I wonder how packed the polls will be tomorrow?!? I'm excited!

Before I sign off, I can't help not saying how deeply saddened I am by the death of Jennifer Hudson's Mother, Brother and Nephew. I could never imagine something so horrific happening to me. Even though I don't know Jennifer personally, I can't help feeling for her....and for anyone if this were to happen to them. Jennifer, I wish you peace in this time of turmoil, confusion, rage, and deep sadness. I pray that you find something to hold onto while you try to understand what has happened. I also feel so sad for her sister Julia. A mother should never have to bury her child....I am so sorry Jennifer, Julia and the entire Hudson family....

thanks for stopping by,
Keisha

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
