I'm Home!

After being on the road for a few days, I am home! Yippee! but only for a few more day cuz I'm going on vacation soon! Oh yeah!

Kansas City was nice. The gigs were interesting but I had a nice time. Did some running, in which you can read about here, and just had a pleasant time doing mostly nothing...which I've found is sometimes the most relaxing to me. Oh but I did play some Rock Band/Guitar Hero...and on the EASY setting, I ROCK! But only on Bass...hee hee!

We had two rain scares/realties on this trip but we still played on. The first one was in Briarcliff (Kansas City) on the 3rd. It did rain for a bit but we covered as much stuff as possible and waited until the rain passed, which it did, so we ended up playin. But unfortunately some water got into some of the power sourced which caused the system to trip so the power kept clicking on and off. We ended up having to cut the show short and the movie on the lawn, which was going to start after us, ended up getting cancelled.

The second rain thing happened on the 4th. We played at the Riverfront Festival in Kansas City. There were bands playing before us and the weather was perfect....well maybe not perfect, there were clouds and it was a bit windy but hey for July, it was pretty awesome. So we were scheduled to go on for an hour and a half and play right up to the fireworks...which we did. Only, the rain started right as we began and didn't stop until after we packed up our gear and the bus pulled away. Yes, we were on a covered stage, but only covered from the top. As the wind picked up, so the did the rain and the guys...bless their hearts, got soaked! As did the music, and most of the gear! Oh and our uniforms were a mess! But people stayed, and some were even out there without umbrellas so I'm sure they appreciated us continuing to play. The fireworls were pretty great too...I didn't think fireworks would do well with rain but they were perfect! Crazy day. Nice ending though. It's sure to be a memorable one.

So I'm home now and last night we went for a long drive after dinner. Don't you just love long drives in the summer? It reminded me of when I was little and went for summer drives (rides). Sitting in the back of the car listening to the music on the radio (maybe Earth-Wind and Fire) with the summer breeze in my face, my braided hair flopping with the wind, probably a scraped up knee, a red Kool-Aid stain on my top lip, and not a care in the world. Beautiful memories. Why do we always want to grow up so fast? Last night was relaxing and made me appreciate this beautiful summer weather. I hope you are appreciating it as well!
Thanks for stopping by....

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
