Hey Y'all.....
Oh wait, am I gettin' too Ala-Bama on y'all? Hmmm....nope cuz I said Y'all before I got here, it just seems to come out so much easier though since I've been here. Now while Ala-Bamians understand Y'all and call every soft drink a Coke, they do not make the SODA connection when I say POP! I was at the dining hall the other day and had some soda...pardon me...POP in a styrofoam cup. When I went to pay for it, the lady politely asked me what I had in my cup and when I told her POP, she stared at me like I had 10 heads. So my 20 eyeballs on my 10 heads stared right back at her until my classmate said "soda".....and the lady politely added my drink to my bill, I paid and left. Funny how the Mason-Dixon line makes such a difference in whether or not a drink is called soda or POP! My vote is for the latter...it has more character!
Anyhoo, this past weekend was a good one. On Friday night, our flight here at school had a cookout...and when I say cookout, I mean like a big ole family reunion style cookout. One of my classmates LOVES to cook and so we had chicken shish-kabobs, baked beans, corn, fresh pico-de-gallo, chips and all kinds of stuff. We had music playing, people were dancing...it was just a good ole fashioned time! I couldn't have though of a better way to decompress after a long week...much of which was filled with tests. I ate a lot...but that's ok because before the cookout, I ran 6 miles just so I could eat a lot...Hee hee. We hung out until late into the evening but not too late because I knew that my 0900 volunteer call was going to come quick...
So Saturday I got up to do my vonlunteering. Two of the other ladies and I went to the local Humane Society here in Montgomery and stayed for about two and a half hours. We walked the dogs, played with the cats, and just had a good time. Here are some of the doggies that I walked. They were so sweet to pose for me....

After the Humane Society, I went back to the base and took a nap which was amazing! I never take naps, but I think I should do it more often! It felt awesome! After I woke up, a friend and I went to this Organic food store....it was so nice! I loved it. Is it weird that I find the smaller kinda whole foods stores to be more charming? I would much rather shop at places like that anyday over a crazy, picked-over, larger chain store. Is it more expensive? Absolutely...but do I feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck? You better believe it! I need to find a store like the one here when I get back home. Well after that I didn't do much anything...just came back to the base and hung out...it's quite nice to do nothing after having so much to do...decompression is a wonderful thing!
Yesterday was school and afterwards I ran...5 miles...it felt good. It was cold though. I think the high was 45 or 50...and today it is in the 70s. It's weird, but the cold gloomy days make me appreciate the warm sunny days like today even more! I love it! My IT Band was hurting a bit, so while I wanted to run today, I figured I'd better give it a rest before I hurt myself. So that's what I'm doing. Resting...and typing..and in a little bit, I will be eating. Catfish tacos from this BBQ place here. YUM they are so good! So dear friends, I need to finish some homework before I head off with my lady friends here in about thirty minutes, but before I go I want to leave you all with this quote I found....Enjoy....
"Sometimes when we are generous in small, barely detectable ways, it can change someone else's life forever" - Margaret Cho
I have had so many people influence the decisions I've made in my life...good, and not-so-good, and usually it's has been the small things, not the large things that have made the most impact. Have you been generous...even in the smallest of ways? If so, you may have changed someone's life...for the better:)
Thanks for stopping by....
