Fabulous Week…until the end.

Greetings cyberspace homies! I got back a couple days ago from a really fun TDY (work trip) to a place I’d heard of people going to but never visited. Branson, MO. Now I wasn’t there the whole trip but four out of the eight days, I was there. The band was on the road doing a show geared towards out Veterans; very fitting for Veteran’s Day week. I thought that I might have been a bit miffed at all of the Patriotic music we were playing, but IMO, it turned out to be a very nice show. There was a nice mixture of things happening so that it wasn’t America the Beautiful followed by God Bless the USA and rounded out with God Bless America. Most importantly though was that the audience and our Vets loved it. I even saw a couple of former POWs out there. I can’t imagine what people go through but especially what a POW has gone through and continually goes through each day. God Bless em’.

Throughout the trip I, of course, did a lot of homework which was done mostly on the bus thanks to some long-ish bus rides, but the kicker was that I had two major papers due; one Sunday, one Monday. So for the first part of the trip…I was a bit miserable as far as the home-work load went. UGH! But I got through it and in the end everything went fine. I got my papers back and the grades weren’t perfect, but they weren’t poor either. I finally got to spend a little time doing something other than homework, and what better way to do something other than homework than to SHOP! That’s my middle name you know? K-SHOP-GG! The place we stayed in Branson was not my type of shopping place but a short van ride away was perfect. I got a cool new pair of boots, an awesome dress with pockets in the front and a couple knick-knacks but for the most part, I restrained quite well.

All in all, the trip was great. I had some great chats, some nice shopping and some great meals….that is until the last night of the tour.

I was very excited to eat at the local Olive Garden, because I hadn’t eaten there in over a year; Olive Garden was great for my pre-marathon carb-o load. The breadsticks and salad are my favorite. I enjoyed my pre-meal salad and breadstick treat with a glass of wine and good conversation and when my meal came, I enjoyed every bite that I could fit into my face. We walked back to the hotel and all adjourned to our rooms. I watched some TV for a while before I drifted off to sleep around whatever:30. About 2:30 my food came calling, and didn’t stop calling for hours. I was so sick. I hadn’t been sick since 4th grade people so I felt like somebody had taken my real body and temporarily traded it for a sick body. Needless to say, my stomach was a complete mess for the next day and a half. The whole day, “Sick Friday” is what I refer to it as, I had nothing but water and a cup of mint/chamomile tea. I tried to have a sip of some juice but it tasted like molasses…so I stuck with the water. After a 4 hour ride home, I got home, put on my jammies and laid out. I was asleep by 7:30 p.m. On Saturday I was a bit better, and managed to get some fruit in…but I was terrified that it would come right back up…so I took it easy. My back felt like I’d dead lifted Arnold Schwarzenegger from all the dry-heaving, but I couldn’t take anything with no food in my tummy. By Sunday though, I was back to my old self again! Gosh I’d missed me!

Getting sick is terrible! I don’t recommend it. If you see anyone applying for that internship, stop them right away! You’ll be the best friend forever if you do. Trust me!

Thanks for stopping by….
Keisha

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
