What a week!

Well I have been a busy little bee this past week. Things have been great though......Besides finishing up a bit of last minute shopping, here's a little recap.

Thursday was a nice day at work and in the evening Jason and I went to the St. Louis Symphony for a wonderful time as the symphony along with their very own IN UNISON choir. It was their annual Gospel Christmas celebration. It was a fabulous mixture of some of the well known Christmas songs as well as some African hymns dedicated to the celebration of Kwanzaa which begins, if you didn't know, the day after Christmas. After the symphony finished their set, Grammy award winning Gospel recording artist Cece Winans came on and did an hour and a half set. It was great! She had an awesome band and some FANTASTIC back-up singers. Thanks for coming to StL Cece!

Just to back it up a bit, prior to the show we ate at a place called Jazz at the Bistro. This restaurant doubles as a jazz club or maybe it's better to say that this jazz club doubles as a restaurant....Either way you slice it, it was an awesome place. As I was sitting waiting for my meal, I noticed on the artist board that one of my favorite jazz vocalists played there two weeks before. None other than Ms. Nnenna FREELON! She was there for 4 nights, two sets a night! How did I miss this?!?!?!? CRAP! I am going to have to keep up to date with their guests from now on. Sorry I missed you Nnenna!

Friday night Jas and I went to his squadron's Christmas party. It was a nice outing. The best part about the evening was Jas having to dress up as an ELF! His squadron does a fundraising event to have two people dress up at the party. One as Santa and one as an Elf. People put money up for you to dress up. In the end Jas received over 6,000 votes which totaled to nearly $300! He was a great sport about it and he and the Santa handed out gifts to the kids at their portion of the party. Check him out with his tights and all!
Well Saturday, Jas and I hung out at home and waited for my folks and their friends Pam and Chuck to drive on down. They all came for a visit to join us in seeing the St. Louis Rams and the San Francisco 49ers play. It was a cold-cold morning as we headed out to the game. Thankfully we could take the Metro instead of driving and we lucked out because as soon as we got our tix, the train came. We got to the game, which was my first NFL experience, and the game was going well....but it didn't really get exciting until about the last 7 minutes. From the 2nd quarter until the last 7 minutes, St. Louis led the game (which is great if you're a Rams fan. I became a 49ers fan by default). At about half time, Jas said that the score would be 17-16 San Francisco. I thought, there's no way San Fran is going to win, but wouldn't you know it, San Fran won! And 17-16 just as Jas Said it! It made him a very happy man and fan!

I thought that Jas was a huge sports fan, but he had nothing on this couple who we met....they came all the way from Cali to be there for the game! Talk about dedication! It was an even sweeter victory for the 49ers after meeting these two who had come so far. I was so impressed, that I had to get a picture!

Nothing much happened today except that I left work at about 10 a.m. because it was freezing again! Woo hoo for me! I came home and just relaxed, which is so nice. Since I am finally finished with my class, I bought two new books and plan on doing some reading for pleasure...not because I have to:) The one I just started is called The Christmas Sweater. An excerpt compares this book to The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. If you haven't read The Five...please go out and get it! It was great! I can't wait to get through it (The Sweater)! There's just something about a good book that makes me feel all tingly inside. I'll fill you all in once I've finished!

I think I'm gonna dive into my book a bit before turning in.
Thanks for stopping by!

Pheew...Sounded like fun

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
