Tis the Season to Be Freezin'.....

My....my....my....it has been so cold for the past few days. What is so weird about the nose nipping chill is that Sunday the temperature was in the 50s! Sunday night, there was a little ice storm which caused our power to go out sometime during the night. We noticed the outage around 3 am. The power came back on around 6:00 and went out again around 6:45. Luckily when we got back home, the power was back and so was the HEAT! Yesterday the high was about 17 degrees and this morning we woke up to a little snow dusting and the high was only about 23 but it is about 19 degrees right now. The heat at work today was not working so needless to say, it was FREEZING! and they let us go at about 12. If it's still off tomorrow, I won't be broken hearted because they said they'd let us go in the morning if it's still cold....here's hopin' it's still out! Tee hee! Well with weather like this, nothing will fill my belly better than a good bowl of turkey chili, which is what's for dinner tonight. While I make dinner, check out this funny poem I found....

Twas the month after Christmas and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I’d nibbled, the eggnog I’d taste
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

So away with the last of the sour cream dip
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
I won’t have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie
I’ll munch on a carrot and quietly cry

I’m hungry, I’m lonesome, and life is a bore
But isn’t that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Hopefully that won't be me, but can't we all relate to this poem??? Too cute!

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh yea, Illinois winter! You need to go to the little cafe across from Target to get a steamer! They have all kinds of flavors including sugar free and they will make it with skim milk. Then (because you are already there) you can go into Target! So yummy, and now I'm so jealous!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
