Fun-ness and frustration....

Yesterday was an awesome gig day!! We started our day pretty early and headed to shore. We took a 'party boat' (except it wasn't a party boat for us, it was a barge that is usually a party boat) to shore. The ride to shore took almost an hour which is about double what the took in the hospitality boat...but it was cool, I was able to get lots of pictures. Woo hoo! We arrived early and headed to our 'gig-site' which was at the Heritage Quay (pronounced 'Key') Shopping Center. Now before you get your hopes up like I did, NO we didn't get to shop and it was pure TORTURE! Especially for a shopping gal like me! It was like someone dangling your favorite dessert in your face and having no way to get to it. Pure. Dee. TORTURE I tell you! LOL...But like I said it was a great day.

God smiled on us and blessed us with beautiful weather. It was clear for practically the whole day. Not a single rain drop fell on us. It's probably because I've been bringing my rain jacket each time we've gone out...maybe I'll keep bringing it to avoid the rain...because when I don't bring it, it rains...hmmm...I may be on to something here. So we set up and had lunch at a place right next to our stage called CHEERS. It wasn't like the normal CHEERS but it was pretty cool to go in to a place with a familiar name. After lunch, we played our concert and attracted a pretty nice crowd. A Carnival Cruiseliner came in the night before last so we snagged several of the folks from the ship. It was an international crowd but we ran into several American's and even a Brit who is the in the Marine Band. Yoo hoo! We played for a couple of hours and felt like ROCK Stars by the end! People were cheering and whistling and cat calling. It was pretty cool. Though all the music was well received, I think the biggest hits were Bob Marley's "One Love" and "Is This Love". The Rasta's all loved the Bob Marley stuff very much. SCORE!

We got back to the ship around 1745 and quickly headed up to dinner. It was pretty good. Fried chicken...mmm...and rice pilaf and veggies. I worked out at about 2100. It was really great. I worked hard and sweat-ed even harder...ewww....sorry.

All in all yesterday was a really great day.

Now on to the frustration...

Unfortunately people are starting to get quite frustrated with things and each other. Myself included. There have been a lot of misundertandings, people are becoming inconsiderate of others, non-compromising, and mouthy. Feelings are being hurt, people are trying to force their way of doing things onto others and things are starting to unravel. In an environment where people are so close, and have to be near each other for hours on end each day...tempers are bound to flare up and they have. In the words of Rodney King..."Can't we all just get along?". I hope my friends, I surely do hope. For the sake of our sanity and for the sake of our working environment...it is imperitive that we do. Keep us in thought everyone as we continue our promise on Operation Continuing Promise to present the best music we can put forth.

Thanks for stopping by....
Keisha

It's sad that this happens to 8 out of 10 small groups. I have never really been able to figure out why. Just try to stay positive (not hard for you) and to not get caught up in the drama.

I hope things are getting better!!

Miss you!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
