Beautiful...

...is a very modest way of describing Antigua and it's people. Yesterday I had the pleasure of joining the Chaplain and some volunteers on a fun little COMREL (community relations) dity to a school for troubled boys. We arrived at the school and found out that our project was to help repair and clean up a basketball goal that was long overdue with playing time. When we arrived, one of the SEABEES (civil engineer) was already hard at work re-measuring, cutting and re-threading the poles. The basketball goal that was still up was only about 3 feet tall. Very insufficient for young boys to get a real game in right? ABSOLUTELY! So we, well mainly the SEABEE, re-did the piping (as mentioned before) in order to make the goal 10 feet. Not only will the boys be able to play on a goal that's tall enough for them to actually be able to challenge themselves in making baskets, but having the goal at that height also allows them to practice on a basketball goal that other children their age are also practicing on. It was cool. We also painted the semi-circle making it look better without all the cracks and divits showing the grey concrete beneath their feet. Unfortunately we really didn't get to see or meet many of the boys. A few came out however. I hope the boys enjoy playing on their new b-ball goal...I'm glad I was there to help....even though it was just a little bit.

Today was another nice day. We didn't go to shore unfortunately, but we did have rehearsal this morning and I was able to get some laundry done. Rehearsal went well and it is always nice when I can wash! I got down to 2 t-shirts! That's kinda like getting down to the last few pairs of undies...you know the ones you keep in the back of the drawer...the one's you rarely see? So woo hoo for clean t-shirts! Not much else went on today...sorry but this entry is kinda boring...But check out this pic...someone sent it to me the other day. This is from when we tried to have the Steel Beach party. The one that got rained out. Well this is before it rained...I'm a goofball!

Well I hope that made you laugh...or smile...I know it made me laugh!

Thanks for stopping by....

Keisha

how come you are always SO beautiful? It's really not fair to the rest of us 'normal folk'.

You ALWAYS make me smile, Keisha!

Who says undies in their blogs? I would love to play on a 3 foot basketball goal. I could do some damage. Another great blog babe. Love you

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
